American Fyre Designs Lookbook
American Fyre Designs builds handcrafted concrete fire tables, bowls, pits and urns with a furniture maker's sense of proportion. The Legend and Contempo L.P. Select tables hide a propane tank in a drawer, the Marseille bowls are shallow and wide, and a Reclaimed Wood collection brings real warmth to the table top. Behind it all is R.H. Peterson Co., the company behind Real Fyre gas logs and Fire Magic grills, and it shows in the certifications and the thorough manuals.
The story
American Fyre Designs is a brand of Robert H. Peterson Co., based in City of Industry, California, whose other brands include Real Fyre gas logs, Fire Magic grills and American Outdoor Grill. Its fire features are "handcrafted from innovative glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC)."
AFD explains the method in plain terms: a composite of cement, glass fibers, aggregates and polymers is hand laid or sprayed into molds, rolled to remove air, and built up to a finished wall typically 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch thick. The result weighs a fraction of traditional precast. AFD also notes that its products "are individually handcrafted and finishes shown are subject to slight texture and color variation," which is exactly what you want from a handmade surface.
The look
AFD's range spans several moods. Contempo and Cosmopolitan are clean and modern, with Cosmopolitan standing taller at 24 in. for lounge seating. Iron Saddle and Legend have a heavier, rugged presence. Fiesta and Voro lean sculptural, while Meadow and River use two-piece construction so you can mix finishes. The Marseille bowls are low and wide, from 24 to 48 in. across, and the Eclipse and Wave urns and the Magnolia Lantern add height along a path or entry.
The signature detail is the flush GFRC cover included on Iron Saddle, Legend, Legend L.P. Select and the 32 and 36 in. Chat bowls, which gives the piece a clean, solid top when the fire is off. On the Reclaimed Wood collection, French Barrel Oak or Silver Pine tops frame the concrete like a piece of indoor furniture.

Fire tables
Legend comes as the 60 by 36 in. Rectangle, the 72 by 36 in. Legend Long, and two L.P. Select versions at 20 in. high that store the tank. Contempo is offered in Round, Rectangle and Square, plus the Contempo L.P. Select at 52 by 36 in. and Contempo Long L.P. Select at 76 by 36 in. Iron Saddle comes in 60 in. and 72 in. lengths. Cosmopolitan is offered in Rectangle, Square, Round and a 60 by 60 in. Square Dining height. Fiesta, Voro and Voro Cube, Meadow Round, River Rectangle, Calais Oval and the Milan Tall and Low Linear tables complete the table range. Bowls, pits and urns
Marseille bowls come in 24, 32, 40 and 48 in. diameters, with water spout versions of the 32, 40 and 48 that bring a water supply up through the base to a 3/4 in. garden hose thread fitting. The round Fire Bowls come in 32, 36 and 48 in., the Chat bowls in 32, 36 and 48 in., and Bordeaux in Square, Petit Square and Rectangle. Louvre fire pits come in Round, Rectangle and Long Rectangle, alongside the Contractor's Model. Eclipse and Wave urns stand 37.5 in. tall, and the Magnolia Lantern reaches 66 in.

Finishes and colors
AFD's current finishes are White Aspen, Cafe Blanco, Smoke and Black Lava, plus three Antique finishes: Dark Basalt, Light Basalt and Travertine. The Reclaimed Wood collection uses French Barrel Oak or Silver Pine tops. Some older listings still show a Sedona option that does not appear on AFD's current finish page, so if you have your heart set on it, ask us to confirm before ordering. What comes in the box
AFD includes base lava granules with its burners, 10 lbs or 5 lbs depending on the burner model. The primary media, lava or glass, is generally purchased separately. The flush GFRC cover is included on Iron Saddle, Legend, Legend L.P. Select and the 32 and 36 in. Chat bowls, and Fiesta tables include a nylon cover for the propane tank. Fuel and ignition
AFD fire features are certified to ANSI Z21.97 / CSA 2.41 for outdoor decorative gas appliances. Each model comes in one of two control styles. M models use a manual battery-powered spark igniter with a thermocouple flame sensing control: if the flame is not sensed, gas shuts off regardless of valve position. H models use FyreStarter, an on/off and high/low electronic system you can run from your phone through the RHP Connect app or at the unit, with USB ports built in. FyreStarter needs a 120 VAC GFCI outlet.
Heat depends on the model. Across the tables, bowls and pits, M models are rated 60,000 or 65,000 BTU, and H models run from 65,000 up to 100,000 BTU on high. The L.P. Select tables (Legend, Legend Long, Contempo and Contempo Long) are propane only and hold a horizontal 20 lb or 11 lb low profile steel cylinder in a tank drawer. Other conversions between gases must be done by a qualified service technician, where permitted. AFD asks for 3 ft of clearance at the sides and 6 ft overhead, and says not to operate in heavy rain or high wind.
Warranty
AFD's 2026 Product Catalog states: "American Fyre Designs exterior (GFRC) fire features and accessories are warranted for three (3) years." Valves, burners, electrical components and controls, excluding batteries, are warranted for one year. The warranty applies "to the original purchaser with invoice or proof of purchase and to single family residential use only." An older AFD Limited Warranty document grouped burners with the three-year GFRC coverage and accessories with the one-year parts, so the two documents differ. Check the warranty paperwork that ships with your unit, and register the product with R.H. Peterson.
Care
AFD's routine is to hose the unit off to remove dust and debris. For stains, it suggests a concrete cleaner and a nylon scrub brush, then a thorough rinse. Units arrive pre-sealed; AFD's care page recommends resealing with a masonry sealer similar to the original, in cooler weather, once the piece is clean and fully dry. In freeze-thaw areas, cover the unit so water cannot collect inside, and always let it cool completely before the cover goes on.

AFD publishes a full manual library covering installation, conversion kits, wind guards, covers and the tank table, along with its 2026 catalog and a River Firetable sale sheet. Which American Fyre Designs tables hide the propane tank?
The L.P. Select tables: Legend L.P. Select, Legend Long L.P. Select, Contempo L.P. Select and Contempo Long L.P. Select. Each has a tank drawer for a horizontal 20 lb or an 11 lb low profile steel cylinder. They are propane only, and the tank itself is not included.
What is the difference between M and H models?
M models use a manual battery-powered spark igniter with a flame sensing control that shuts off gas if no flame is detected. H models use FyreStarter, an electronic system with on and off plus high and low settings that you can run from your phone using the RHP Connect app. FyreStarter needs a 120 volt GFCI outlet.
