How We Review and Update Our Guides

Reviewed on by The Fire Pit Collection team. How we review

Every guide in our Learning Center is written to help you choose a fire feature you will live with for years. That only works if you can trust what we say, so here is exactly how we research, write, check and update each one, and what we will not do.

Where our facts come from

We start with the manufacturer's own paperwork: installation manuals, owner's manuals, spec sheets, warranty documents and the brand's published care instructions. When a guide states a size, a weight, a clearance, a warranty term or a care step as fact, it comes from one of those documents, and the document is listed under Sources at the end of the guide with a link and, where we can, the page or section.

Where documents disagree, we say so plainly and point you to the paperwork that ships with your unit, because that is the document that applies to you. Where we could not confirm something in a manufacturer document, we leave it out rather than guess.

What "Our take" means

Facts tell you what a product is. They do not always tell you which one to pick. Near the top of most guides you will find a short box called Our take. That is our opinion, written by our team, about who the option suits, when to think twice, and where we would start looking. It is clearly separated from the facts so you can weigh it for what it is.

When we call a product a steady seller, it is because it is one of the items our customers order most in its category. We do not publish sales figures.

What we will not do

  • We do not invent numbers. If a figure is not in a manufacturer document, it is not stated as fact.
  • We do not run down a brand to sell another one. Every brand gets the same treatment.
  • We do not quote delivery times or return windows inside guides. Those can change, so we point you to each product page and to shipping and returns.
  • We do not replace your installer. Gas work belongs with a qualified, licensed gas professional, electrical work with a licensed electrician, and code questions with your local authority having jurisdiction.

How our planning tools work

Our planning tools do simple math on the numbers you enter or on published reference figures, and each one explains its assumptions. They are meant for early planning. Your manual and your installer have the final word.

Review dates and updates

Each guide shows the date it was last reviewed. When we recheck a guide against current manufacturer documents, or add something useful, we update that date. If a manufacturer changes a product, we revise the guide rather than leave old information standing.

Spotted something we should fix

We sell the products we write about, and we would rather hear about a mistake than have you plan around it. If something in a guide does not match your manual or your experience, call us at 888-887-1870, Monday to Saturday, 9 to 5 Eastern, or send us a note, and we will check it against the source and correct the guide.
